Parris Island - Backdrop of Basic Training scenes in Full Metal Jacket... “If you ladies leave my island, you will become ministers of death, praying for war...” Oorah!
Awesome place to learn new skills. Free haircuts and great physical training. The sandpit was open day and night. You got to feed the sand fleas, they love AB + blood type. Great memories and the food was delicious!
Graduated Boot Camp in 1967. This place changed the direction of my life entirely .Semper Fi 👍
This place has made me the person I am today there is no place out there like it. I came back to visit awhile ago and I spent a little time looking at all the history of the island and it is just incredible how much tradition is here and still is carried on to this day.
If it lives aboard PI then it will bite you. Gators, snakes, sand fleas, and Devil Dogs :) One of my best memories was going back to PI with my dad and sharing our memories of our adventures (he went through in 67, I in 94)
If you want to be the Best, you have to graduate here first! Plt 2075, 1986.
Born again hard in 1995, PLT. 2053. Semper Fidelis to my fellow hard chargers.
Great location. Has a ton of history and some cool ceremonies
Came down to see my boyfriend graduation it was really nice but very cold I was so cold I couldn't even feel my toes any more . The men there was kind . Big island to get lost on But very beautiful . Worker's were very friendly . I just wish the ceremony happened inside... And had better chair's and also a better way to find your marine thousands of people it took me 45 minutes to see mine and at that point I was gonna leave other then that I highly recommend going if you haven't.
Three month all-inclusive vacation. Staff was very energetic but could be a little more friendly. Felt rushed while dining. Beds were pretty comfortable, was woken up in the middle of the night every few days. Skip the sand pit too many fleas. Great walking paths with good views. Barber on site, cut was way too close and fast, did not tip. Pool was cold, life guards seemed attentive but not helpful. Advertising was accurate, no rose garden. Last week was the Crucible excursion. +54 hours duration. Plenty of activites to keep busy, night life was the same. Snacks were provided. Hospitable greetings on the last day, checkout was fast.
